United States: The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission alerted the citizens of United States that these swings should never be used for sleeping, and no bedding should be added. Parents are reminded to always follow safety measures to make an effort to keep their little cuties safe.
“If the product is used for sleep or bedding material is added, the headrest and the body support insert included in the seat pad pose a danger of suffocation,” said the agency.
As reported by the HealthDay, The CPSC’s advice to parents who already have one of the Snuga infant swings at home: “Consumers should cut the tether to detach the headrest and then extract the body support insert from the seat pad, reducing contact time between consumers and the problematic part so that awake time in the swing can be continued.”
A complete list of 21 Fisher-Price infant swings under recall, with pictures, is available at the CPSC.
The agency said that five death incidents involving infants between one and three months old were reported to have been caused by Snuga swings between the year 2012 and 2022.
“In most of those instances, infants were not properly restrained, and additional soft goods were incorporated in the product, the CPSC pointed out.
Apart from the threat posed by the Fisher-Price products under recall, the agency urged parents and caregivers to know that: “They should never use any inclined seated products like swings, gliders, soothers and rockers for infant sleep, and should not leave infants in these products, unrestrained or with bedding material because these can cause suffocation.”
However, it was always recommended to place an infant on his or her back to sleep using “a firm, flat or subtle surface in a crib, bassinet, or we can say a play yard, with nothing but a fitted sheet,” the CPSC said.
As part of the ongoing effort to enhance child safety, Fisher-Price has committed to keeping consumers informed about recalls and safety updates. Parents are already encouraged to register their products online to receive notifications in time.. By staying informed or aware about the scenario and following safety recommendations, parents can help protect their infants or their cute little kiddies from potential hazards associated with baby gear.
Overall, making sure the safety of our children is a top priority, and awareness of product recalls and safe sleep practices is crucial for keeping them safe.
